The Wedding Ceremony

St Peter’s Chapel was originally built in the 12th century as the great banqueting hall and is the most perfect, beautiful setting for a wedding in the North east of England that you can imagine.

You will walk down the aisle lined with flickering candles, as the dramatic sound of the organ fills the rafters. Your guests will be in awe of their wonderful surroundings. To view images of the Chapel, visit our Wedding Gallery, but please come and see it for yourself as soon as you can!

To discuss eligibility please contact The Diocesan Registrar (01388 450576) who will be pleased to advise you. At a later date you will be given contact details for a vicar to discuss the finer points of the service.

The opportunity exists for the blessing of marriages which have already been conducted by civil licence, but we do not conduct civil services at the Castle.
